| FC Dynamo Kyiv will commence the 2009/2010 season with the Ukrainian
Super Cup match against FC Vorskla Poltava after the Poltava club
celebrated their first ever Ukrainian Cup triumph on Sunday. A
second-half strike by Vasyl Sachko proved enough to earn Vorskla a
narrow 1-0 victory over UEFA Cup winners FC Shakhtar Donetsk. The
Super Cup has been contested since 2004 with Dynamo Kyiv winning three
times (2004, 2006 and 2007) and Shakhtar twice (2005 and 2008). The
Ukrainian title holders and Cup winners will now meet in the country's
Super Cup match on Saturday 11 July, with the venue yet to be announced.
