21 August 2009
Dynamo
and Vorskla first met in 1996 in Poltava. That match ended in the
opponents’ 4-3 victory. Since then, however, the opposition from
Poltava has failed to win any of their next games against the Kyivers.
Sunday’s match between Dynamo and Vorskla will be the two sides' 27th
meeting in the Ukrainian top-flight competition. Overall, the
White-Blues have registered twenty-one wins, four draws and one loss
from their previous matches against Vorskla with 65 goals scored and 18
conceded. In thirteen away games Dynamo have claimed ten wins, two
draws and one defeat, with the goal difference of 30:12.
The
2002/2003 season saw the most prolific game when Vorskla was defeated
8-0, with Leandro, Shatskikh and Diogo Rincón going for a double. The most prolific strikers for Dynamo are Serhiy Rebrov, Diogo Rincón, Andriy Shevchenko and Maksim Shatskikh.
Each of them has scored six goals in Vorskla’s net. The opponents boast
rather modest achievements: two goals from three top scorers (Serhiy Chuychenko, Vitaliy Kobzar and Miroslav Grumic).
